PURPOSE
2020 S.T.E.A.M. Camp for Young Leaders Leadership Conference
The 2020 S.T.E.A.M. Camp for Young Leaders Leadership Conference allows KOP councils from around the state to come together for fun, food, fellowship, and training. Our youth leadership conferences serve as the KOP’s annual meeting for youth Knights, Sir Knights, and Parent Clubs. We also have attendees from other KOP programs outside of the state to visit our event. The conference consists of
debate competitions, statewide basketball tournaments, football competition, track & field, oratorical competitions, report card competitions, brain bowl, etc.
This year will serve as our 14th college/university visit in the state since 2001 & every year since 2005. We are proud of the fact that our Youth Knights have the opportunity to visit college/university campuses, learn in a classroom environment, and
experience a little of what college life is all about. The longer a Youth Knight stays in the Texas KOP program, the more colleges/universities he gets an opportunity
to visit. Some of our Knights are attending the various universities we have visited.
TRAINING
S.T.E.A.M. (Science Technology Engineering Arts Mathematics)
S.T.E.A.M. touches almost every part of our lives and the jobs we do. We are surrounded by things that have to do with Science. Technology is advancing every
day. Engineering allows us to focus on designing roads and buildings. Arts provides the opportunity for communication and expression. Mathematics is
something we do on a daily basis. These skills our youth must manage and possibly master as they become older and prepare for the job market. Regardless
of the career, S.T.E.A.M. will be an integral part of their lives.
This year's conference we will introduce, educate, and show the importance of S.T.E.A.M. We are excited this year that Lamar University will help us in our
training efforts. Our Youth Knights will benefit greatly.
